Marketing plan: The Marble Outpost is a charter member of the Marble Tourism Association, which is part of the Gunnison County marketing area. All bed taxes from the Marble area are funneled into the MTA marketing coffers, giving it up to $10,000 a year for website, print, and even television ads.

The Marble Outpost Lodge is located near Marble, Colorado in the upper Crystal River Valley. Carbondale is 1/2 hour away; Glenwood Springs is 45 minutes; Aspen is 1 hour. Roads are good. Year-round access is excellent. The Marble Airstrip, 4,600 feet, is only 1/2 mile away. Marble is a popular getaway for hiking, horseback riding, fly-fishing, elk and deer hunting, four-wheeling, backcountry skiing, and travel into the nearby Maroon Bells/Snowmass and Raggeds wilderness areas.

Herds of elk inhabit the surrounding mountains, and sometimes winter a stone's throw away from the Marble Outpost. Deer are present in the summer and often wander through the 1-acre lot. In fact, the last time we were in Marble, we surprised a doe that was sleeping under the back deck! Excellent fishing for German browns, rainbows, cutthroats, and brook trout is within half a mile. Bighorn sheep and mountain goats just a mile away. Various hawks, eagles, and small game are found in the surrounding areas.
