Delta County government is known for being fiscally conservative, with almost no county debt at all, thereby offering low property taxes. Larger cities of Montrose and Grand Junction are 45 minutes and an hour away, respectively, each having good regional airports with worldwide connections. Delta, only 15 minutes away, has an award-winning small hospital and several board certified specialists in internal medicine, orthopedics, and other specialties. Delta has a Super WalMart, car dealers, and two other large grocery stores, while Montrose and Grand Junction have many big-box stores, concert venues, and theaters, while Grand Junction is home to Colorado Mesa University.
